Understand how petrochemical development in the Northeast US will transform the region’s business landscape

In June 2016, Shell approved a new multi-billion-dollar petrochemical complex that will be located about 30 miles north-west of Pittsburgh. The complex will use ethane from shale gas producers in the Marcellus and Utica basins to produce 1.6 million tons of polyethylene per year. Site preparation has begun, and start-up is scheduled for 2022.

Interview questions include:
  • What are the core issues you are dealing with related to new ethane cracker development in the U.S. Northeast?
  • How are you collaborating with stakeholders to address these ongoing challenges?
  • How much uncertainty is caused by new ethane cracker development in this particular region, and how do you aim overcome that?
  • What do you think the petrochemical, plastics and chemical manufacturing industry will look like in the Northeast region five years from now?
